In FY 2017-18, Alan L. Freed Associates is offering a menu of one-day field programs that can be presented at military installations around the United States. The format for each field program is identical to the programs held on Capitol Hill (featuring five presentations a day). Please note that each program can be modified to address specific areas of concern to individual agencies/organizations.
There is no doubt that there are significant tensions between the Republican Congress and the White House. The Republican Party is deeply divided and the Democratic Party is remarkably united in opposition—and therein lies the problem facing policymakers in Washington. Deeply partisan divisions over tax and spending, immigration, energy, health, trade, defense and foreign policy demand serious attention, while rapidly changing global events, from the Syria to North Korea, compound the difficulties facing the 115th Congress.
The possible trajectory and potential institutional changes within Congress will be explored in this seminar with an eye on both the domestic and international forces that may impact those developments. Capitol Hill Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to discuss these and other critical issues in an off-the-record setting featuring a group of nationally recognized speakers who are experienced in all aspects of the national policymaking process.
- Power and Partisanship: Reflections on How Washington Actually Works
- The Congressional Process: Strategic Lawmaking on Capitol Hill
- The Evolution of Leadership and Power on Capitol Hill
- Lawmaking and the Role of Congressional Staff
- National Security and the Defense Budget
- Why Politicians Seldom See the World As It Really Is
- The Politics of Border Security
- Emerging Threats Facing Congress: A Global Assessment
*The above topics may change to address current events at the time of the seminar.
The fee for this one-day seminar is $24,580. Please call 703-684-8807 to obtain further information about a field program at your facility.
Speakers bring a refreshing perspective on government/politics and social economics (U.S and foreign). Great Insight to happenings on the Hill, Pentagon and White House.J. Falbo, Navy
Exceptionally relevant topics and highly-credentialed speakers; very thought-provoking, in a great way; all speakers were appropriate as were the topics. As well-run and organized a class/course as I’ve ever been to.
Absolutely enjoyed the program's overall structure. The moderator did a great job of weaving the different topicsD. Merker, Air Force
I consider myself well-read, but this seminar opened many areas that will require additional study, consideration, and preparation. Well done!T.H., Air Force • National and International Secuirty Leadership Seminar February 2017
